Our Teaching Philosophy

We at Oasis believe that teachers and students are partners in the education process. 

While the teacher brings expertise, knowledge, and life experience to the classroom, the student brings curiosity, motivation for learning, and their own life experience and potential.   Both sides working together are essential for education to take place. 

In addition to teaching specific knowledge, Oasis is also committed to teaching learning strategies. 

We want our students to develop effective methods for learning that will enable them to continue their education long after they leave the academic environment. 

With the constantly expanding volume of data available to us, it is impossible for today’s student to memorize all of the information related to his/her field of study.  Therefore, we emphasize research skills so that the students know how and where to find needed information. 

Finally, while students will be exposed to many ideas and concepts, we at Oasis affirm the student’s individual right and responsibility to decide for themselves whether or not they want to adopt the ideas to which they are exposed.  Students are encouraged to develop their own opinions and values and to live by them.
