Student Life at Oasis
During the school year, the students at Oasis Training Center work very hard at studying and achieving their goal of learning English. To give them a break from this hard work and provide other outlets for language development and cultural understanding of America, there are events weekly and throughout the year that they can participate in.
Every Friday evening during the school year, a youth center run by Oasis Training Center, called the Oasis Activity Center, is opened up to the students, as well as the community. While this is not a required activity for Oasis students, they are encouraged to join in on the games, movies, and conversational English. The Oasis Activity Center is located near the school, but some evenings these activities are relocated to a nearby park for outside games or a picnic.
At all major American holidays, the staff at Oasis provides an opportunity to learn more about the culture and have fun together with activities such as Easter Egg Hunts, parties, and meals. Also, a Sports Day is put on each spring by Pingliang Vocational School that the staff and students of Oasis participate in.
